

Marunouchi Hotel opened in 1924. In 2004, we moved to our current location and re-opened.
In October 2024, We celebrated our 100th anniversary and 20th anniversary of our re-opening.
We will continue to welcome you with a big smile,
based on the concept of “Hospitality from home to customers around the world”.

Tokyo Taxi Jidosha Co., Ltd., the predecessor of the hotel, was founded in 1917. The Great Kanto Earthquake occurred on September 1, 1923, the year before the hotel opened, and the building under construction was also damaged, but the damage remained minimal, and the following year, Marunouchi Hotel opened on October 28, 1924. The nine-story building had a lobby and dining room on the first floor, and guest rooms on the second to ninth floor. At the time, hotel had separate bathrooms and toilets from the guest rooms.

After the end of the Pacific War in 1945, Marunouchi Hotel was taken over by the Allied Forces and used as quarters for British Commonwealth military officers. Above is the hotel entrance that was hit by heavy snow. The car’s license plate reads “BCOF, British Commonwealth Occupation Force.” It is said that during the requisition period, the quality of service provided to overseas guests was improved. The hotel installed air conditioning in all rooms in 1954. In 1957, the interior and exterior were renovated and the banquet hall was expanded.

In April 1961, Marunouchi Hotel new building was opened, equipped with the latest facilities. The main hotel building was also renovated in 1962. The metaphorical “Japaneseness” advocated by Mrs. Patricia Keller, the interior designer of the main hotel building, is still incorporated in the design of the current Marunouchi Hotel.

“Tokyo John Bull” (top 2 photos) was opened on the 28th floor of the Asahi Tokai Building in August 1971. “Togeki Sky Salon” (bottom 2 photos) opened in Togeki Building in December 1976.

Ginza Marunouchi Hotel opened in December 1976. It had 114 guest rooms and 2 restaurants, and was open until 2001.

The hotel was temporarily closed in 2000 due to the redevelopment of the Marunouchi North Exit area. On October 1, 2004, Marunouchi Hotel moved opening to its current location, just a few minutes from the Marunouchi North Exit of Tokyo Station. There were 205 guest rooms, three restaurants (French, Japanese, and Teppanyaki), and a cigar bar.

The signs in the building are changed with each season, in an attempt to “Elevation of the essence of Japan,” expressing seasonal hospitality modeled on the tea ceremony.

In November 2023, Marunouchi Hotel begun renovation work focusing on guest rooms, with the goal of completion in June 2025.We will continue to welcome customers from all over the world with big smiles in Marunouchi, Tokyo.

The newly renovated guest rooms are based on the concept of “NEO Japanism,” which is a further development of the concept of “Modern Japanism” starts from 2004. Feature interior design that makes extensive use of wood grain, curved ceilings, and spacious bathrooms, creating an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.

In March 2024, the 8th floor “pomme d’Adam” outdoor terrace was renovated. A great location where you can overlook the ever-changing cityscape of Tokyo, lined with various buildings including Tokyo Station. The tables and chairs have been completely redesigned with extensive use of wood. It became a more calm space.
